Bylaw Enforcement

At the Town of Eston, our bylaw enforcement process is primarily complaint-driven. This means we respond to concerns as they are brought to our attention by residents. If you receive a letter from the Town, please know that it is not meant to single you out—it simply means we were made aware of a possible bylaw concern on your property and are following standard procedure.

You may notice similar issues elsewhere that haven’t yet been addressed. This doesn’t mean those situations are being ignored—only that we may not yet be aware of them. Once a concern is reported, we follow up consistently and fairly.

We appreciate your understanding as we work together to maintain a clean, safe, and respectful community for everyone.

Community Concerns

🏡 Neighbour-to-Neighbour Issues

These are personal matters that should first be addressed through respectful conversation:

  • Noise between set quiet hours (e.g. music, parties)
  • Fence disagreements (placement, maintenance, etc.)
  • Tree branches overhanging property lines
  • Parking in front of homes (unless violating specific bylaws)
  • Pets on private property (unless aggressive or creating a repeated nuisance)

Tip: Most of these can be resolved with a friendly conversation before involving the Town.

🏛️ Town-Related Concerns

  • Unlicensed or derelict vehicles on private property
  • Excessive noise during quiet hours, or frequent disturbances
  • Animal control (e.g. stray, aggressive, or excessive number of pets)
  • Parking violations or blocking of driveways/alleys

Thank You FCC

Thanks to grant funding support from FCC Canada, we were able to install a new boiler and update the venting system at the rink this past summer! This upgrade provides improved heat to the lobby and entrance—making those cold game days a little more comfortable for everyone.
We’re grateful for the funding that made this possible and for the continued investment in our community spaces.
