Recycling Tips

Help ensure your recycling is accepted by following these simple tips:

  • Keep it clean – Empty and rinse all containers.

  • Flatten cardboard – Break down large boxes to save space.

  • Don't overfill – Close the lid completely.

  • Leave space – Keep 3–4 feet between carts.

  • Avoid litter – Place plastic bags and film in a clear bag and take them to a participating depot such as SARCAN if accepted.

About SK Recycles

SK Recycles is Saskatchewan's province-wide residential packaging and paper recycling program. The program collects recyclable materials from homes and depots, where they are sorted and processed into new products instead of ending up in landfills.

What Happens to Your Recycling?

  1. Collected – Materials are picked up from homes and depots.

  2. Delivered – They are transported to a recycling facility.

  3. Sorted – Paper, cardboard, metals and plastics are separated.

  4. Processed – Materials are prepared for manufacturing.

  5. Repurposed – Recycled materials become new products such as containers, packaging, paper products and building materials.

Your blue recycling cart accepts residential packaging and paper, including:

  • Paper and cardboard

  • Plastic bottles and containers

  • Metal food and beverage cans

  • Glass bottles and jars (where accepted through the program)
